Toning- Herbal Toner or Astringent

Cleansing the skin is the first step of skincare regimen. It purifies the skin from deep within. However, there may be some residual traces of makeup, dirt, oil, pollutants and the cleansing lotion. To remove the leftover portions of the above, skin toning is the next important aspect.

Skin toning helps to purify the skin further. It removes the remaining toxins, chemicals and oil from the surface of the skin. Thus, toning of skin rejuvenates and revives the skin. It increases the blood circulation and assists in improving the health of the skin. A good skin toner maintains the natural Ph level of the skin and prepares the skin for moisturizing. Moreover, the correct procedure of toning restores the suppleness and sheen of the skin. It delays aging and formation of wrinkles and lines. Toning is done after cleansing the skin and before moisturizing of the skin. The wrong method of toning can make the skin sag. Hence, follow the correct method of toning. Take some toner on a cotton ball and clean the facial skin in outward and upward motion. The result will be an apparently glowing and clean skin surface. There are two types of toner – Herbal and Astringent. Astringent contains alcohol that may or may not suit your skin type. Therefore, selection of a good toner largely depends on the amount of alcohol present in it. In addition, one must be cautious in the choice of a skin toner in case the skin is dry or sensitive. It is preferable to go for herbal skin toner if the skin is dry or sensitive. Oliskin's toners are based on natural olive oil.

Usually, alcohol based astringent are recommended for oily skin. However, if you are using Oliskin's Cleansers, there is no need for you to use toners as it will remove surface oils and debris which may be helpful for oily or acne-prone skin. There always has been debate over use of chemical products or herbal products. Chemical products seem to provide positive results but presence of harsh detergents may speed up the aging process of the skin. On the other hand, organic products manage the skin gently and generally do not have side effects. One can even prepare the skin products with the help of natural ingredients.

 

How to use

1. Step One: Wash your face

Splash your face with warm water and make sure your hands are clean. Apply the cleanser to your face with circular motions. Make sure you cover all the areas – forehead, chin, nose, cheeks and neck then rinse with lukewarm water.

 

2. Step Two:  Apply the toner

A toner should always be applied to a cleansed face. It should be applied with a cotton pad. Saturate the cotton pad and pat the toner gently over your face and neck area. Apply it to the forehead, cheeks, chin and nose, or to the whole face. Never rub your skin when applying toner.

 

3. Step Three:  Apply moisturizer

After applying facial toner your skin may feel a little tight and dry and that’s why you need to apply a facial moisturizer after toning your skin.

 

We recommend that if you cleanse your face regularly twice a day with the Oliskin Olive Oil Cleansers you don't need to use the toner as it will remove surface oils and debris which may be helpful for oily or acne-prone skin.

 

 

If you use a toner that have too much  alcohol it can provoke production of more oils which in turn means more pimples, more blackheads, clogged pores therefore we recommend Oliskin toner that doesn't contain harmful ingredients.
